Just an easy hike out to Route 93/Route 3 to get into North Woodstock where we would spend the night at the Notch Hostel. Very pleasant, new and very clean place to stay with the friendliest staff around. Definitely a spot to stay at if you want to be in the heart of the Whites and want inexpensive accommodations.
On our short walk out to Franconia Notch, Peter and I stopped in at the Lonesome Lake Hut for a warm drink. The croo were very friendly, especially the woman who was cooking as she offered us some leftover lasagne to go with our drinks. Yum.
This hut is very nice, scenic and offers smaller bunk rooms where two people can share the space, meaning that you won't have to listen to snorers all night long, just as long as your roommate doesn't snore.
