Day 66/June 6

Miles hiked: 20.0 in 9:30

Start: Smarts Mountain Fire Warden's Cabin, NH

Finish: Route 25, Warren, NH

Elevation gain: 5,755'

After torrential rains lasting from 1 p.m. yesterday until about 3 a.m., we awoke to a beautiful day, weather-wise. Alas, the trails were incredibly wet, muddy, slippery and very slow-going. I averaged less than two miles per hour, on terrain that would normally be done at a 2.5-miles per hour pace.

Mount Cube had fantastic views and is a great climb, even with the wet, slick rocks. On a dry day, it would be a wonderful day hike.

Route from my Suunto.
